Candle Care

  1. The Freeze Method: Pop your finished candle (once the wax has cooled completely) into the freezer for about 2–3 hours. The wax will shrink, allowing you to gently pop it out with a butter knife.

  2. The Hot Wax Method: When you are burning towards the bottom of the candle, and most if not all the remaining wax is liquified, then extinguish the flame and pour the wax out. With a long utensil, dislodge the wick tab from the bottom of the glass/mug and pour it out. Wipe the inside of the glass while still warm and you can get a lot of the glass clean enough to make the final washing much easier.

  3. The Final Clean: Use a spoon to lift out the metal wick sustainer. Wash the mug thoroughly with hot, soapy water to remove any remaining fragrance oils or wax residue.

  4. Check the Bottom: While our glasses are sturdy, we recommend hand-washing to preserve the vibrant glazes and intricate Tiki details for years to come.

  5. Cheers: Fill with crushed ice, your favorite spirit, and a tiny umbrella.

From Wick to Sip: How to Prep Your Mug

So, you’ve reached the bottom of your candle—the party is just getting started! Follow these easy steps to turn your Tiki treasure into your new favorite cocktail glass:

Best Practices When Burning
  1. Trim Your Wick: It's very important to trim your candle's wick for best results. With the tall Tiki Candles it would be very helpful to use a wick trimmer which is angled for use in deep containers. Aim to trim your wick to about 1/4" before you re-light your candle. This will ensure a long-lasting candle, minimize soot and remove any mushrooming of carbon on the end of the wick.

  2. The First Burn: When lighting a soy candle for the first time, allow the wax to melt all the way to the sides of the container. Failure to do this can cause "tunneling" which will limit the life of your new soy candle.

  3. The Final Burn: Don't burn a candle all the way down. This can cause the glass vessel to crack. For safety measures stop burning a candle when there is 1/4" wax left in the vessel. Soy wax easily washes out with soap and water so you can repurpose the jar.

  4. Check the Bottom: While our glasses are sturdy, we recommend hand-washing to preserve the vibrant glazes and intricate Tiki details for years to come.

  5. Storage: These all natural wax candles should be stored in a cool, dry place.
